By simply existing, I make him feel like a failure.This is the fallout from a terrible childhood. In 2000 I fell deeply in love with a dancer. We met in San Francisco and then courted by e-mail and phone for a year after she went back to Amherst, Massachusetts.Finally she invited me to come spend a month with her. @ThomasWic I had to do this with my 3 daughters, walk away and let them be versus anger them. I didn&#39;t agree with their decisions nor did I argue with them ( I think that increased their anger). They made choices that led to their self-destruction. I did my best and was available and loving. The things they said to my husband and me were also unforgivable. Younger brother and I haven’t spoken in over 10yrs. In the past 6 years I have distanced myself from many of my extended family members. I have one son. He’s married with 2 kids. Coming back from the taste test (years ago), my husband driving and our two children fighting in the back seat, it was the first time their constant fighting didn&#39;t bother me😂. My mother made me POA and her estate executor because I was the one who took her to her many doctor&#39;s appts and they never even visited her while she was in the nursing home. She wanted to leave me her house and cut my 5 siblings out. I said no. The attorney said probably not a good idea. That got so ugly, I don&#39;t talk to any of them but one sister. She understood I saved what I could from the state taking it. Smh

There are two little towns along the Virgin River which runs from an aquifer from the mountains in northern Utah.That river feeds the northern most portions of Lake Meade and the Maiopa Valley, as it is called.Those two toans are Logandale and Overton, just few minutes to the back entrance to The Valley of Fire.Very off the beaten path but close enough for creature comforts.I know it very well.

@ThomasWic What you wrote was very touching. Thank you for sharing. My husband who died 4 yrs ago cut himself off from his sisters after one of them refused to be a bone marrow donor( she was a 100% match) unless she got a huge sum for it. My son’s 2nd grade teacher was willing to be tested as a donor. So who was family? We paid the huge sum and he had the transplant, but died a year later. My 12 yr old son remembers what his aunts did, and does not want to see them again.I

@ThomasWic So sorry to hear that. Glad you’ve developed your resource of inner strength to be able to deal with the chaos. My entire family’s need for me to fix everything for them is incredibly burdensome. It has affected my entire life. So much for being the competent stable selfless one. I am the last matriarch of the family. Should I shake it all off, everything crumbles. My family, once functional, is now a brittle shadow of what it once was. It’s surreal.

@ThomasWic Thanks for sharing. Looking back, homeschooling was probably one of the best things we did for/with our kids. They’re now 22, 19, 17 and 15 and are all each other’s best friends, a team, miss each other (the oldest has been away at college) but still group text everything to include, cut up, bust on, stay together. Makes their mom and I very happy.

@ThomasWic 100% agree. The sister has all the money, but still hates me. Although I am horse poor, I made it without the parent inheritance. And I am at peace for the most part. She is fat, very ugly and manly as a typical liberal. VERY in your face presence. The half family and my daughter can’t stand her. People say I need to “forgive her”. Fuck that. I will never forgive her. I don’t live my disdain for her...but it will never change. You are awesome and you are you, and that kills him.

@ThomasWic I have always been drawn to you because our thoughts, beliefs and ideas are so similar. As it turns out, so are our family dynamics. I did not have to survive Venezuela, but I had to survive plenty of Crazy, volatility &amp; instability as a child. @ThomasWic Hubs had a total break with a sister a few months ago. She told him to his face 3x in one conversation that she hopes Trump dies. He got up, kissed his 89 y.o mothers head, told her he loved her, went to the door, turned to his sister, told her he loved her &amp; left. The end. He didn&#39;t want to fight. His mother has a bad heart &amp; if she died while they yelled, he&#39;d be blamed &amp; knows it. And it&#39;s been great since. ZERO contact. Peace is good for the soul. He won. His sister HATED that.

@ThomasWic I have realized over many decades that the opposite of love is not hate. Love is a committment, but hate is an emotion. Indifference is the complete lack of committment, which is the opposite of love. So yes, indifference is revenge without any effort expended at all.
