Is gab.com #gab incompatible 246 days ago or is it being blocked? Can't see any post newer from any Mastodon or Pleroma instance. Can gab be federated? Will this instance be blocked from all the others if it can federate gab?

@odyssey346 Thanks for trying! I noticed the mastadon instance liberdon has gab but the posts are no newer than 246 days ago. Maybe they ran an update that included gab blocking and didn’t remove it at that time and no one I can find has it federated? I’d prefer to federate every instance then remove the ones that users of this instance have problems with.

@admin the free thinkers over in the #fediverse are actively blocking gab.com allegedly for hate speech or speech they hate, they haven't quite decided as of yet.

@admin if you mean how does one block other domains physically, then it's not hard at all. You just have to go to the administration menu and follow through from there.

@admin well not if you didn't block anything. My point is this if you didn't block any domains then nothing is blocked. You have to physically do it, on purpose. I only blocked one domain because all they gave me were bots.

@agentcasey So I go to Gab, copy a link to a post or profile, go back to this server and search it. Nothing comes up.I try from other mastodon servers - ones that also don’t block - nothing unless it’s over 250 days ago.

@agentcasey yes. Conceivably my VPS provider, which is a major one, is blocking it, but with I proxy the Pleroma server through Tor it’s still not available, though that method could be Gab blocking me. I consider the likelihood of my host blocking Gab as extremely low.

@agentcasey @admin the bigger shame is that they're getting all the new users and fame in the current political climate... when they have some pretty big obvious failings.people don't know anything about what the #fedivers is. they think it's normal for people on Gab to not be able to see people and other domains. they're still stuck in that centralized social media mindset.
