       @kelbot So that's mother 1? looks kind of like mother2 but not really and I can't remember that enemy being there in the start that I've tried.

       @kelbot mother is such a good and cute game, though the grindiness wears us down sometimes. we really like the 25th anniversary romhack, too

       @kelbot @sotolf yup! the translation was basically finished, but the SNES was already very much a thing by that point and the English release was scrapped

       @kelbot @sotolf it's similar in a lot of ways, but in a way it's sort of a loosely connected prequel? it's hard to talk about literally any of the plot without spoilers. it's also about gathering eight melodies in order to fight off an alien invasion, but the reasons for doing so and the nature of the threat differ somewhat.
