One thing that I am realizing is those that will not look beyond what they have been sold, are not worth the emotional energy at this point. @chris Reading through your thread, it tells me one major thing. Something is lost in text. When speaking face to face you can read the emotional state of the other person. When typing it you are reading it in a calm manner, however the other person can be reading it like you are on a soap box screaming and half insane. @chris As far as the law dictates, I agree with your commenter. Strictly speaking, the security of the government was violated. The legal consequences of that are vast and explicit. The US government does not take security failings lightly. If forgetting to take off a jacket will earn you an aggressive pat down from the TSA at an airport, then entering the Capitol outside of the acceptable times carrying various types of weapons will absolutely destroy your life.That said, I agree that this was not the egregious, violent "insurrection" that people are saying it is. More people died in the George Floyd riots the previous year. Insurrections by their very definition are brutal. There was 1 on-site death and it wasn't even a politician. No politicians were even harmed. If this was truly an insurrection, the Capitol would have been a blood bath.What this was, was a group of idiots with delusions of grandeur. They wanted to act high and mighty for five minutes without weighing the potential consequences of their posturing. Ultimately harmless, save for the computer theft. I actually feel bad for a lot of these people. However, it's necessary that they're made examples of in the public eye, so more organized efforts are discouraged. At least, that's the message I would want to pass on if I were in power.How was the reaction from the powers that be going to be otherwise?
