Relatively small investors, using services like Robinhood, collaborated to inflate the value of that stock, under the guise of giving that troubled company a fresh chance at life. If it stays high, the gamblers lose big, very big, because the difference between its current price and its previously expected price is enormous.

       @OF29 Right this second, it looks like a few investors are in a lot of trouble. (Not the giants, just bigger-than-a-person funds.)Now, I am not an investor or lawyer, but *my understanding* is that because of the particulars of this specific case, the little guys are likely free from prosecution for securities fraud.        @OF29 Not likely. GME was susceptible because it was nearly worthless, and its future looked even worse. Apple is highly valued, is only looking up, and has true giants invested in it. The little guys don't have the combined strength to move it significantly.
