I think I'll be taking this opportunity to migrate from (mostly) lurking on Voat to more actively participating on the Fediverse. Over the past 5 years, it's impressive how much the two ecosystems diverged. Voat was once promising and more open till only a few loud voices were left whereas the Fediverse continued to rapidly grow and that's even with the instance blocking.

@Sabex I think I commented on there maybe over a year ago. It was hard to engage when Tallest Shill and crew had a cult following. In reality, decentralized is the best approach for discussion as one node falls another dozen can spring up versus a single point of failure that supposedly costs 4k/month to operate.

@Sabex It was also pulling teeth to get the block function enabled, but by then most of the casual, polite, original users were already gone.

@51rH0n3y84d93r methonks fediverse has lots of potential for growth albeit i foresee sharp split into (at least) two partitions not talking to each other. Basically where gargron et are are making judgements on whom to kick/ban it will be smaller unlivable and full of disinformation and other mental rubbish a partition.
