NLRB approves a vote by mail union certification election for Amazon employees in Alabama. Amazon (obviously) would prefer employees vote at work where their boss can remind them how lucky they are to have a job. Weird how WaPo supports mail in voting for Biden and silent when it hurts Bezos.https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-01-15/amazon-workers-in-alabama-union-vote-by-mail

@wikifarms Amazon said it disagreed with the NLRB’s decision. “We believe that the best approach to a valid, fair and successful election is one that is conducted manually, in-person,” spokesperson Heather Knox said in an email.Folks will bad mouth their boss at home more than they will at work. They know vote by mail is not good for them.

@RalphfromChicago ah ok informative then. Amazon is like a slave owner, I heard they have timers on the employees and extract every fiber of work they can.On the one hand if people sell eight hours of work then they should give eight hours of work and do their best. On the other hand imho Amazon if they could would make them work until they can't breathe and then get the next expendable one.And people get the prime thing because wow then they can WATCH FILMS wow and be like children I buy it NOW I want it NOW.

@wikifarms @RalphfromChicago Really? I heard the opposite, that work at Amazon entails a lot of fluffing about.

@Matatjahu @RalphfromChicago I heard lots of horror stories, employees are tracked so the company knows where they are, how fast they scan things, how fast they put in on the shelf. Apparently they end up walking really long distances in one day.I mean working as a farmer is very hard work and probably as a miner too but idk there is something not nice about Amazon trying to extract the last drop of strength.imho people who work as farmers more or less expect hard work but if everything is allowed because "nobody is pointing a gun to anyone" then we might as well go back to the industrial revolution
