@takao @deadheat I considered these examples of the Duality Of Bird. (Descartes would be pleased.)

@deadheat @takao I respect all native, wild populations but admit my "love" to be more discriminatory; some birds I'm just not keen about. It is difficult for me to like certain shitters knowing a thing or two about their life histories, e.g., Mallard, Mute Swans, "managed" or invasive populations of Canada and Egyptian Goose, and degenerate evolutionary strands like Casowary. On the other hand, I like starling, some gull species, think hamerkop and shoebill are awesome, and find humour in things like turkey. I tend to post mostly diurnal birds of prey and corvids because they're the ones I love the most, and am easily pleased even by "common" species.I suppose the short answer to your question would be "It's complicated."

@flapflap @takao Your knowledge of birds is actually impressive, I wonder if I took a picture of the ones making nests in our trees you would be able to identify the species. Their feathers are mostly of a dark brown color but of a very bright yellow on the chest, it actually gets your attention when you look at them.
