@codewiz Reasonable tools for chat administration would be nice. Not being bound to a phone number would be nice. An actual desktop app that I can run on my Pinebook Pro would be nice

@codewiz Regarding chat wallpapers it is really just a beginning. Doesn't let me just use my Gallery app to pick a background in 10 seconds. Instead Signal tries to find and present the backgrounds itself - finding 900+ folders in which it has detected pictures, mostly title pictures of project gutenberg ebook downloads.No wonder, they point out the "one default background for everyone if your patience is wallpaper thin".

@codewiz It lacks one major feature which is a deal breaker for me, it's phone only, and what I mean by that is I can use it on my phone, link my desktop app to it, but my tablet which I use more than my phone? Nope, can't have Signal on it as it's WiFi only.

@Vextaur Agreed. Telegram was originally bound to telephony, but then they started to shift towards a proper identity model. Now you can run Telegram on multiple devices, including desktops and web clients. I think a phone number is still necessary to open an account, but you can migrate your account to a new number.Signal could do all this, and hopefully will.

@codewiz What's weird is that Signal works on the desktop, but not tablet, you'd think the same linking model could be used on both
