Is our justice system really fair? like.. if I would sue google, I wouldn't stand a chance because they can afford way better lawyers, so basically, the more money you got, the higher the chance you're gonna win?

@metalune This can be solved by making laws simple. Unfortunately, this is very, very hard. Even assuming all the legislators are ideal altruists, this is a difficult problem.How do you fix the incentives?

@duckhp I've never seen a country where it isn't like that (to be fair, I have only seen how it's done in Germany and America, but I can't really imagine it being different anywhere else)

@wizzwizz4 uhm.. the thing about laws is, you gotta make them so they apply to millions of people, so if you make them simple you're gonna leave many gray areas. which could then result in injustice without violaitng the laws

@metalune i've seen the phrase "it's not a JUSTICE system, it's a LEGAL system" often used to describe ours. $$ obviously slants both civil and criminal cases too.

@metalune Sadly, it isn't. I wouldn't say money directly affects the outcome of a judgement in a courtroom, but the competence of the lawyers on each side (where increased competence usually translates to increased cost, but not always). A popular example of this would be that of Casey Anthony.
