John Brennan, "ex" director of the CIA and ISIS financier extraordinaire, didn't let even one day of the new administration elapse before letting slip that the glowies are targeting their domestic political enemies. Which political ideology did he specifically call out as dangerous and inimical to democracy? Libertarianism, of course. The prospect of a libertarian populist movement, glimmers of which began to be visible in the Ron Paul campaigns, scares the hell out of the ruling caste.May it become worthy of their anxiety.

@amaranthus It's really about allegiance to the Uniparty, and the fact that literally nobody on the current right has any.

@ArdanianRight @amaranthus Right. They're using "libertarian" as a catch all for anyone who wouldn't put absolute loyalty in either party. Braindead ideological Libertarians are not the target.

@ArdanianRight I agree in part, but blind allegiance to Trump is another way to neutralize the Right. As recently as a couple months ago I wouldn't have said such a thing, but Trump made it clear that he doesn't have the fortitude to deal heavy blows to the "Uniparty" establishment when he has a chance. He squandered his last months in office, abandoning his core supporters and attempting to appease the very people who will obviously always hate him.If not loyalty to party and if not personal loyalty to Trump, then what should guide the right? That the principles of liberty would provide the vantage-point for a thoroughgoing criticism of the established power-structures, and a bulwark against sellouts and subversion, is their underlying fear. They want to neutralize right-wing populism the way they neutralized the Tea Party. To do that they must discourage the adoption of any principles that would stoke the refining fire of internal criticism.

@amaranthus Trusting the Plan absolutely got a lot of people to sit on their asses. The way they keep the right in check is by funneling them towards corrupt, two-faced leaders who'll deter any kind of effective action. What's needed is principled leaders who won't be bullied or bought. Only men of character and courage can lead the masses to freedom.

@ArdanianRight Chance and opportunity play a role, but for the most part movements get the leaders they deserve. A movement will have leaders with character and courage when the people of that movement recognize character, instill courage through unwavering support of right action in the face of opposition, denounce corrupt sellouts and leave the cowards behind. What's character? What's right action? Who has sold out, and what separates cowardice from prudent restraint? It's the role of principles to furnish answers to these questions simple enough for the mass movement to grasp and apply them.A rudderless movement will blunder its way into irrelevance, throwing what little power it wields behind unfit representative who mouthe empty platitudes and do nothing to advance the cause. Deliberate subversion only quickens the process.

@amaranthus Social media algorithms do a lot to promote some as "influencers" while burying others. A big problem is that a lot of the rank and file are lazy and will passively remain on enemy platforms as long as possible as opposed to organizing elsewhere.

@ArdanianRight You're right, but sound principles still mitigate this problem. Faceberg could promote a hundred bluster-cucks, but a true guiding light will show them for what they are.I do what I can to promote non-manipulative platforms that enable the free flow of ideas. "Enemy platforms" is a good way of putting it. We need to be more vituperative I think.
