@PestToast @PestToast A relay works by using 'Announce' activities (the same activity type reposts use) to push activities to other instances. So an instance subscribes to a relay and starts sending it posts and that relay sends back announce activities for public posts on the other instances in the relay.

(When Gab still federated, it was one of the things I used to search for to find the bot accounts.) I think you can extrapolate by checking the stats on an instance and then checking again the following day. (Ideally the following week, traffic goes up and down based on the day of the week.)

@captain @m I should give the caveat that FSE's been around since September 2018 and we don't expire posts, so it'll take a while to get to 161GB. We have about 46,526,706 rows in the activities table, so the average would be ≈3.6kB per activity. (This is total DB size, so that 3.6kB would include all the overhead, like indexes and whatnot.) Easiest way is to just check it periodically.Certainly interested in seeing the write-up if/when you do it.
