Very sad! Historic buildings are a primary reason to be in the north east.1. I had no idea Poughkeepsie had a witchcraft district.2. Ed Wood is from Poughkeepsie. I wonder if the statue has a permanent home?3. Road trip!https://apnews.com/article/new-york-arson-halloween-poughkeepsie-us-news-436cc48792fca549d4f3b5496f9393e7

@Prof_Trixie if there was a GoFundMe to rebuild the place twice as big, I would SO donate.

@johnhattan Yeah, it was sad to see the Black House in SF torn down, too. People can be jerks.

@Prof_Trixie > 1. I had no idea Poughkeepsie had a witchcraft district.that should totally be a thing in every city. tiny shops selling books, tarot cards, crystals, little potted belladonna plants, etc next to a bar called The Green Man.

@Nikolai_Kingsley @Prof_Trixie as a qualified urban planner I would love to rezone a district as a witchcraft area. ‘What’s that star in the circle shape in the map Liam’ ‘uhhhh’

@liamvhogan @Nikolai_Kingsley Right?? New York and Massachusetts are especially creepy places. LOTS of old buildings and cemeteries! I'm a couple of hours from Sleepy Hollow and, like Salem, they are Halloween year 'round. We have a Wicca store in the village I live in but not all witches are Wiccan.

@Nikolai_Kingsley @Prof_Trixie I was just thinking about that. Now that I have my moonshine supplies moved into my new place, I can make a fine batch of Texas Absinthe. And yeah, "Texas Absinthe" isn't really a thing, so I'm gonna have to invent it.I'm thinking I make some standard pot-stilled absinthe and then pickle a jalapeno in the jar.

@johnhattan @Nikolai_Kingsley That sounds amazing. I love absinthe and I don't even drink. Texans know how to make anything their own. We are a hearty and...stubborn bunch.

@liamvhogan @Nikolai_Kingsley Because of the chanting or the orgies? Maybe both? Chanting orgies?

@Nikolai_Kingsley @Prof_Trixie oh it is a thing. My wife summarizes its effects as "It makes the floor come up and say howdy".Mind you, to make real absinthe, you gotta brew about a dozen random weeds for some ridiculous amount of time. So I cheat and use the pre-brewed essences. But it just doesn't say "Texas" yet. I need a little something to give it some Texas character. . .https://brewhaus.com/prestige-absinthe-pro-tf-essence/

@johnhattan @Prof_Trixie > I need a little something to give it some Texas character. . ."It makes the floor come up and say howdy" sums it up pretty well.

@johnhattan @Nikolai_Kingsley That's great! Yeah, a little spice should do it unless you have essence of brisket. I wish I could try it. I haven't had absinthe in years and I don't want to pay $60/bottle for *almost* absinthe.

@Nikolai_Kingsley @Prof_Trixie the last batch I made was north of 140 proof. I get no complaints because everyone who's ever drank any doesn't remember it.

@Lifetron Hello! What's confusing about it? I can't really think of a better name for antique buildings that have seen a lot of history. Coming from the south and northwest we didn't really have a lot of old buildings so coming to New York I was astonished by the rich history around me. Victorian architecture everywhere!
