@niposEin weiteres Problem ist das Kontakte finden. Ich will ja nicht jeden in meinem Telefonbuch fragen, wie sein Matrix Handle oder seine JID ist. Gibt es dafür auch schon eine Lösung, dass man die Telefonnummer verknüpfen kann und man sieht wer was nutzt?@lrvick @musicmatze

@Strubbl @musicmatze @lrvick Ja,es gibt die Moeglichkeit,eine Telefonnummer mit dem Matrix Account zu verknuepfen.Das ist freiwillig.Laeuft dann aber ueber einen zentralisierten Identity Server,da nur so Nutzer von unterschiedlichen Servern ueber das gesamte Netzwerk gefunden werden koennen.Das kannst du direk in den Element Einstellungen machen.

@Strubbl @musicmatze @lrvick Kann man schon installieren.Wenn man F-Droid nicht hat und nicht will,dann einfach die APK Datei dort runterladen.Letztendlich kommunizieren Element und SchildiChat ja auch ueber das gleiche Matrix Netzwerk.Es ist also auch moeglich,denen mit F-Droid SchildiChat zu empfehlen und den anderen Element.Oder halt auch ueberall Element,aber ich finds ein bisschen komplizierter,weil es ganz anders aussieht,als die anderen Messenger.

@Strubbl @lrvick @musicmatze Dann solltest du vielleicht erstmal mit einer Verbreitung von F-Droid anfangen.Das hab ich hier schon jedem aufgezwungen.Das schoene bei F-Droid ist halt,dass die Kontakte gar nicht mitziehen muessen und man das auch einfach so nur fuer sich benutzen kann 😃

@DerMarioDas klingt nach einer Idee. Dann bekommt man einen Account von Quicksy. Leider wird damit der dezentrale Gedanke wieder verspielt. Es scheint da wirklich nichts dezentrales zu geben, was nicht nur von Nerds bedient werden kann. Das ist so schade. @nipos @lrvick @musicmatze

@nipos @lrvick @musicmatze Ich würde Fdroid mehr verbreiten, wenn es nutzbar wäre. Aber die Art und Weise wie die Updates da gehandhabt werden, ist nicht ordentlich nutzbar. Wenn ich Tage später die Appliste aktualisiere, zeigt er mir noch Apps, die ich schon aktualisiert habe, in der Liste an, obwohls keine neue Version gibt.Halbgare SW weiterempfehlen kann ich da nicht.

@Strubbl @lrvick @musicmatze Ist halt eine andere App,aber nutzt das gleiche F-Droid Repository.Es nutzt soweit ich weiss aber nicht die original F-Droid Software.Also es besteht schon die Chance,dass es besser funktioniert.

@nipos @lrvick @musicmatze Was bei fdroid noch stört ist, dass die Aktualisierungen zu langsam reinkommen. Wenn es eine neue Version von einer App gibt, bin ich immer so hippelig, dass ich die gleich brauche und nicht Tage später. Deswegen hab ich einige Apps lieber über Gplay statt fdroid installiert.

@Strubbl @musicmatze @lrvick Das liegt halt daran,dass die Apps fuer F-Droid alle vom F-Droid Team selbst kompiliert werden,um sicher zu gehen,dass sie absolut sauber sind und definitiv keine proprietaeren Bestandteile mehr enthalten.Diese Sicherheit ist meiner Meinung nach auch ein paar Tage Wartezeit wert.Und das F-Droid Team ist halt auch noch relativ klein.Wenn da mehr Leute mithelfen wuerden,wuerde es auch schneller gehen.

@nipos @lrvick @musicmatze Der letzte Commit bei gdroid ist 11 Monate her. Das klingt eher gruselig, sich das zu installieren. Das ist doch nicht gesund, dass nicht mal die Abhängigkeiten wie okhttp aktualisiert werden, selbst wenn die App funktional gleich bleibt. https://gitlab.com/gdroid/gdroidclient/-/commits/master

I had only one active contact who i was chatting with. and i discussed with him if we just move on to one of the other many messengers installed on my mobile. and since then i shut down ejabberd and we are using signal. one service less to maintain.

@Alonealastalovedalongthe @musicmatze @lrvick @Strubbl Matrix has end to end encryption for private chats enabled by default now and uses the same encryption library as Signal.Groups can be encrypted,too but that only makes sense for private (invite-only) groups,therefore it must be enabled by hand.
