To anyone who is still requiring help with GrapheneOS or LineageOS (if you don't want to purchase a Pixel), you can still contact me or @ahowell8 with any questions you might have. I believe @NullPointer can help with LineageOS as well.I know it seems daunting but it's very easy to flash the Pixel yourself, you don't need to trust a third party. The hardest part is installing ADB on your system and using the command line (terminal).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQkb0OAOXoc

@paradisestudiosI am on GrapheneOS now. And yes, can help. LineageOS January update screwed my phone up, no sounds from any source, any app, phone, notification, speaker or Bluetooth. I tried to reinstall, to rollback. It did not work. So I switched to GrapheneOS. @ahowell8

@NullPointer @paradisestudios @ahowell8 I want join this club. I have two Pixels, a two and a 4. Both through Google Fi so it would not be as functional. If I loaded GrapheneOS, everything but phone calls would work. The 4 still needs to be paid off so the idea of getting a third Pixel is hard to get behind. But I want to hear all about it!

@melodiousowlsDo you have to stay on Google Fi in order to pay off your Pixel? Is there any other reason you are tied to Google Fi and cannot switch to one of the other (comparatively priced) MVNO's? There are workarounds to get Google Play Services back onto GrapheneOS but I don't recommend it as it breaks the very thing GrapheneOS was designed for. I recommend people de-google their lives BEFORE making the switch to GrapheneOS. It will be easier that way.https://sanet.st/blogs/book4ever/extreme_privacy_what_it_takes_to_disappear_nd_edition.3468905.html

@paradisestudios I think I can pay it off and leave. Considering it. They have a different way of billing. No contracts. Switched my email to Protonmail last year.

@melodiousowls Nice! 👍 Make a list of all the apps you use on your phone and why you need them. See if they are available on https://f-droid.org/ or if there is an alternative. If they don't exist, can you do without them? Don't try to switch to GrapheneOS or LineageOS before making a plan. It's easy for me to tell people to switch but I don't use apps, I just wanted a phone to make calls on. It takes a lot of work to maintain your privacy but once you go through with it, feels so good.

@paradisestudios This is probably a very basic question for switching but I Google Fi and will have to switch for GrapheneOS. Do I purchase a SIM card and phone plan through T-Mobile or any carrier in particular? Making a plan.

@melodiousowls I chose US Mobile. You can also go with Ting, both are pretty good carriers. Plenty of other MVNO's out there as well. Those were the only 2 that used Verizon as a provider and I needed Verizon in my area for best coverage. Any SIM card will work, the Pixel's even support eSIM. Most providers offer a service on their website that will tell if your phone is compatible and will tell you the right SIM card to purchase from them.
