I'd probably completely ditch windows for linux if microsoft suddenly shat out a proper linux build of ms office 2010 :nkoThink: Even better if adobe finally shat out a linux build of photoshop.

I mean really games is not a reason anymore for me to stick with windows. Steam pretty much solved that.

@toast tbh personally I don't use office programs anymore, I don't have a reason to. Photoshop is the very final last thing keeping me on windows. And that's mostly because gimp is shit and krita, while a great program, isn't an image editor, it's a drawing/painting program.

@toast @fristi mfw there are published science papers on how excel doing math wrong has caused other science papers to fail

@logburn you mean office 365? Nah, I like 2010 better.I should just try to get it to run in wine. The only problem is how to get the mini-kms activator to work in wine.

@fristi could always use one of the Linux office options and have a small Win10 VM for Photoshop while you come to terms with gimp.As to office: you may want to look at https://www.onlyoffice.com/ or https://linux.wps.com/ or https://www.softmaker.com/en/ if LibreOffice isn't for you.

@fedops a vm would probably be the best approach for now, until I can get stuff to work in wine some way. I'm still looking into onlyoffice, but it's a bitch to install right on my server :akko_thonk:

@logburn linux has worked out great for me for years, it's just that I still have a pc with windows 7 just for running office/photoshop/games. But eventually I want to ditch windows completely. Linux is much more comfy for the most part :senko_comfy: It's also that I want to recommend linux to others, such as my mom, but I know my mom still uses word/excel a lot so I kinda have to find a way to keep that available if I'm ever gonna push her to linux :shiro_happy5:

@fristi oh I see your situation now. I'm actually in a similar spot with school software, I need windows for maybe two pieces of software (that I use maybe twice a semester at uni) so I have an extra Windows computer in my closet lol. if you get Wine working well, mind tooting me how you did it? I've tried but it didn't with for me, and it could be nice
