I’m beyond over this COVID bullshit.I’ve been back in my office full-time since late August, which was my choice. I came into work this morning to an email saying that effective immediately everyone is now required to wear masks while sitting at their desks. I flat out refuse. I work in a private cube away from people. Not to mention, we're operating at a daily capacity of 30% with a staggered schedule. There's barely anyone here.I have no words for the sheer lack of common sense...

@eMarie i made a new years resolution to not adhere to pseudo science pushed by authoritarians via rubes, so i just stopped wearing onethey made the same proclamation at my office and i just ignore it.if a company wants to try to make a thing of it and get sued into oblivion that's their choicebut really shows you how loving companies are when the state snaps its fingers with no authority to do so

@macspace Working from home has its perks, but I missed the human interaction. It's just my dog and me at home. I got special permission to come in full-time because we aren't even meeting our 30% capacity. Luckily, I'm not the only one that scoffed at the email. No one has put on their mask yet!

@seanongley I haven't seen anyone put their mask on yet and have even heard a few people scoff / make jokes about it. I wonder how much it'll be enforced. Unless I get reprimanded and have my job threatened, I'm keeping the mask off!

@cbbdidlq Honestly, that's probably a smart move! I didn't really see this coming, to be honest. Shame on me. We've been required to wear them when walking around or up talking to people. This new rule is apparently due to our governor's recent "mandate" requiring people to wear masks at all times when indoors.

@eMarie @cbbdidlq My guess is that there is no law or government order, they're just getting push-back from the building, who are just being told to require masks by their lawyers. It's all about liability at this point.

@eMarie @cbbdidlqI expect that downtown areas will be more vacant than suburban office parks. Just an anecdote, but where I live they closed the Walmart office downtown. Not temporarily – permanently. They ended the lease. They actually sent employees their standup desks so they can use them while working from home. That's a bad sign for downtown areas. Indeed, here most of the business closures have been downtown – mostly make money from downtown office workers and conventions.

@BlueDouche @cbbdidlq @eMarie They can convert offices into housing or hospital or hotel spaces, but the question is who will want to live in a downtown area if there are no offices. Lefty dum-dums on FB don't believe me that the only reason downtown centers exist is because of those big fancy office buildings. Every single business in the area depends on them.

@eMarie I've been blessed to work for a company that hasn't had to close down at all since this whole thing started. I'm a pretty introverted person, but I know I wouldn't do well spending 24/7 at home with no face-to-face human interaction. And while they are mandated by the state to tell us to wear a mask, it's not really enforced.

(imagine that) Luckily, I've managed to get away with not wearing a mask at my desk yet. Most everyone around me has been wearing theirs, but I'm trying to stay on the down low. So far, so good!
