victory!! i finally figured out the biggest gripe i had with how my remodeling of the 9front ui was going: these weird gaps between the "screen" of a window in the border. because this is a hardcoded value in libdraw, everything needs to be re-compiled. but it works and now i can go on to the remaining visual glitches plaguing acme!

@dogstar very visually satisfying! What kinds of things are you doing with 9front, should I try it? Are you using a VM?

@exquisitecorp right now, i do a lot of my (job) work and personal projects within it. because i do security auditing, i find acme to be a very perfect general code reading and note-taking tool. (this is the "glorified ide" style of using 9front that i guess a lot of people start out with)9front is actually running on a thinkpad across the room, and i connect to it with drawterm. it works amazingly, so from 9front i have access to all files and hardware from both devices in one interface.

@dogstar I don’t have much C experience. Do you think I would get stuck without that knowledge?

@neauoire @exquisitecorp yes... but i would also say that i don't have much c experience, and i think it's a simple language to learn. as long as you are willing to learn it (and you should be, since you will be learning absolutely everything else afresh) you will be good :)

@dogstar easy to learn, difficult to master

@neutral oh yeah, definitely. that's why i am sticking to low-pressure projects like graphics stuff for the moment :)
