@resynth1943 Kind of interesting how in America this conversation has been had ages ago, but is now happening in the UK.Demonstrators are right. Like, yeah he left money for good causes, but he had a fucking company where he owned people. It’s like Hitler being absolved for all wrongdoing because he donated money to charity. I think a museum is a far more appropriate place, not a statue in a public place.

@webb agreed. I don't like the statue there either. I think the local people should decide.That being said, I don't think we should erase people like Edward from our #history books. To understand the present, we need to understand the past. A museum would be nice.To be clear, I'm against pure misinformation (I prefer the term "bullshit") in history books, which tend to idolise horrendous people. Instead, we need to hear the plain facts without any political bias.
