The Web UI for Mastodon now (3.3) has a bright blue border down the left side of the Notifications column. The intent must be to indicate recents posts, or something, but I don't understand the point.

@fitheach it looks like "unread" notifications; it also now comes with the lil badge on the notifs icon to show how many mastobloops you missed while you were offline :P (I don't get the point of it)

@noctiluca Yeah, I saw that in the changelog, but I don't understand the point. The system doesn't know if I've read them. There seems to be some arbitrary time set for whether they are still considered new or unread, because even when new notifications appear the older notifications (sometimes) continue to have the blue border. If you get quite a few notifications the blue border scrolls way down the page.I don't mean to be negative about the change, I'm just not understanding the purpose.

@fitheach I don't have that at the moment, but I have noticed it and wondered about it myself just lately.
