@Berco What we know is that the Equality Act passed the House last year, will be reintroduced in the new Congress where it likely has the votes to pass the House again, and that the McConnell controlled Senate refused to take up the bill at all. A Republican Senate could refuse to take it up again. A Dem Senate would almost surely take it up and pass it, unfortunately. We must let our reps know that we support amending it, and hope they listen. The Republicans might *amend* but it probably wouldn't be because they care about women's rights. Women have NO party that is working for them on this.

@LGBALLIANCEUSA thank you for info, and agree. but isn't the Republican woman running in senate the one who introduced the women in sports, was it, bill, Kelly L...? Maybe she would take a stand, and i would think some republicans might be pressured by their women constituents to go for the amendments, though they are no fan of lesbians and gays, so probably just want to kill the EA all together.

@Berco Different person. That was Tulsi Gabbard, a Dem (some debate this) congressperson from Hawaii, who didn't run for re-election to the House because she was running for President. Her bill would help only sports, and the EA could undermine that even, if passed. We do need to keep the pressure up. Thanks.

@LGBALLIANCEUSA The bill I was referring to was a bill Kelly Loeffler and a utah Republican senator introduced in the senate that would withhold federal money from schools which allowed boys/men claiming to be women into women's sports. I don't know what has happened to this bill. That is why I was wondering if she wins her georgia election might she be an ally in introducing the feminist amendments. I know about the Tulsi Gabbard bill, which is a different bill.

@LostInCalifornia @frogsdottir @LGBALLIANCEUSA I mentioned a possibility of her being a senator who MIGHt (though probably not) support amendments to the EA. A very big MIGHT (she would have to get elected first). Sure, she is another awful republican. If there is a democrat in the senate who might support the amendments that would be great. When the Democrats ignore women's/children's/lesbian's rights in supporting anything GI/trans, we need to work with ANY party/person to have any hope of stopping the EA as it is now. That includes senators who are as distasteful as KL. That's the state of US politics, the reality. It stinks but politics does make strange partners.

@Berco @LGBALLIANCEUSA @frogsdottir Yes, it does. Stacey Abrams is also someone you need to consider. She’s the black women who did the grassroots to make Georgia a possible pickup for Loeffler’s opponent, and who probably would have been governor if her opponent hadn’t been in charge of counting the votes, and if voting machines in Atlanta hadn’t been suddenly rendered inoperable on election day.She’s a hero not only to the D’s but to millions of black women who have been paying attention. Do you want to piss away those women?
