Whenever I complain about my printer there's always brigade of people telling me how flawless their experience on Linux is (as if that helps). It gets under my skin far more than it should, but I wish these people knew how annoying they were.

@ChrisWereNever managed to get my Brother HL-2130 working as flawlessly as in Windows. Always had to make do with HL-2140 driver. So, while my linux experience is definitely positive, I can relate.

@ChrisWere There's always this. It's just rationalization. People become fanbois and will lie about what they defend because they have a massive sunk cost of effort in it.Like fucking Redditors

@ChrisWere lol, I feel the same way about systemd and threads like "I don't see why people dislike systemd, sounds like they're just complaining about change". Here's hoping the printer being a brat didn't consume too much of your day.

@ChrisWere If someone has a model with better support than yours, you could benefit from that info by getting that model, and potentially reduce your stress. Doesn't immediately help, of course. (and this is assuming they're not just saying "works on my machine" without more substance)

@ChrisWere I'm with you, I can't rely on drivers to work, so I make my own, true nerd style

@ChrisWere I suggest, instead of any opinion getting under your skin, you might gather some info on which printers they actually work based on your followers experiences and maybe deciding on changing your printer if you are to have some piece of mind and more free time other than fiddling with the current printer. 😜

@ChrisWere ok a bit off topic here, but what is #subtooting? Is it using that "read more" function and putting the actual content of the toot in there? If so, what are the benefits of doing that? 😀

@ChrisWereI think printers just barely work to begin with. Printing on windows was a pain not too long ago.

@ChrisWere It's an absolute garbage fire. It doesn't help that most printers embedded systems are trash, or that people rate multifunction wireless printers based on their ability to do wired printing and nothing else (like wireless, scanning, etc.)
