#Deaths in the #US in 2018. 2,839,205Deaths in the US in 2020 as of December 21st: 2,823,030This is similar to the data we have here in #sweden Wouldn't a lot more people have died this year if there was an actual real #COVID19 #pandemic going on?

@mcread All deaths, obviously.If it's normal that 10000 people die on a yearly basis in a country (just to take a round figure) and 10000 people die one year and there's a serious pandemic another year then you'd expect that figure to be higher the year with the such serious pandemic than it was prior years when there was no plandemic.That's not the case here in the #US and it's not the case in #sweden If you have 10000 deaths one year and 20000 the next then sure, you could say it's bad.

@katie Keep in mind that the pandemic has also changed a lot about how people interact with each other and with the world as a whole. Increased hygiene, distancing and protection might've lead to a decrease in other deaths, for example. People might also treat symptoms for other diseases more seriously now than they would've before, getting them checked and treated before they develop to be threatening.

@katie Also worth keeping in mind is that covid deaths are not just about people who were perfectly healthy and got killed by covid. If covid was a contributing factor, then it's considered a covid death. So let's say someone had cancer, but they would've got through it. But because of covid, it was too much and they kicked the bucket. That may also be why the absolute number of deaths hasn't changed much.

@cirno Deaths per year tend to vary by a few thousand on a total death toll of about 90k here in #sweden 2019 had very few deaths, with a 88766 total, and 2018 had 92185. That's a year over year difference of 3419.If you look at any ACTUAL pandemic in the historical record, you'd expect to see the total number of yearly deaths to double or triple or more. That's just not the case; the final 2020 number of Sweden will probably be somewhere between 91-92k - that's average.

@katie The problem with looking at pandemics in history is that they don't take into account changes in behaviour. The flu pandemic of 1920 may have had much fewer deaths if they could isolate as well as we do. The Black Death may not have killed a 3rd of Europe if they didn't live 20 people in one house and all had jobs that necessitated interpersonal contact.I wonder what sort of figures we'd see this year with covid if we had taken no preventive measures whatsoever.

@cirno You don't have to wonder what happens if you take "no preventive measures whatsoever" and don't care about that coronavirus hoax thing.I don't care. Not even a little. Nobody here wears masks. We didn't do the lockdown thing.Thus; you can simply compare #sweden - with no excess death this year - with the countries that did take all those ridiculous measures such as lockdowns and wearing masks .. and see what happens if you turn off the television and ignore the fear-mongering.

@katie I live in Sweden as well, actually. Maybe it differs on region, but here (Skåne) when I go to the store, I'd say 30-40% of people wear masks. Up until October or so almost nobody did, but especially in December lots of people started wearing them. People tend to keep their distance, as well. And schools have been distance teaching for most of the year. Sweden doesn't have a strict lockdown, but it's also far from having no preventive measures.

@cirno People wear masks in Skåne now? I didn't know. Nobody in the Varmland that I've seen wears masks though that may change now that the regime has started recommending them on public transport.Anyway, I'd hardly say that there's any serious measures in place that would have any practical impact on the spread of a virus (by that I mean things that actually work, masks are an example of something that's just for show with zero practical impact)

@cirno There's plenty of possible reasons. I have no idea which are correct.A lot of people, including people in governments, are probably going along with it because they believe there is some real threat.

@katie The video is a bit weird. Some people claim there is no virus whatsoever, others claim the virus isn't very severe. Which is it?What may be the purpose of deploying en-masse a vaccine that is suspected to lead to autoimmune disorders?If numbers, death certificates, etc. can be forged on sites like who.int, what's stopping the establishment from forging the annual death numbers as well, to keep up the hoax?
