I really do not grok people who go through life not creating anything, not questioning anything, taking the path of least resistance every time. But this is the norm???

@sir The path of least resistance is almost tautologically normal.Resistance is a good word for it, resisting is a constant effort against the world. I feel the fragility of that resistance closely in terms of how easily I could be reduced to the "default" kind of life and experience, even if I don't "want" it.I think a lot of people want to do those things you listed but don't, out of similar fears. Not everyone wants to take the risk. Hell, I don't even know if I can.

@sirvertalot but humans are, almost by definition, not following the path of least resistance as a life form in the universe. We are a local entropy minimum and exploit an energy gradient to do complex tasks which are far from the path of least resistance. There's nothing natural about a human doing nothing.

@sir it's not easy to break out of mental patterns for many reasons, poverty or health or simple bad luck. Having grown up surrounded by low expectations I can totally get why people just go with the flow. Its very comfortable til suddenly it's not.

@sir Don't confuse abstraction levels. The path of least resistance people take through their lives has little to do with thermodynamics. It's a path of least resistance through space defined by their mental state, via all the contributing factors - health, energy levels, life situation, available opportunities, etc.Everyone's space is slightly different here. For myself, questioning things and creating things *is* the path of least resistance - otherwise I'd be fighting my emotions.@sirvertalot

@sir It does takes energy, education and time to create. A lot of people are busy enough with work and just chilling out during their free time *shrug*

@sirThere's nothing "natural" about us existing at all, for sure. As far as doing nothing it's more about doing nothing worth doing, and to even try is already to change something, to be different, to express something, grown from a discontentment with the world a lot of the time, after all if everything was perfect why would anyone change anything?1/2

@sir Consumerism is a learned behavior. But conformity is a helluva drug.

@sir I would die inside if I didn't write, program, draw, or do something else creative.I think it's built into us, but we push it off for some reason.

@sir Yeah, not everyone has that spark of creation. Sometimes they have another sparks, but sometimes, they are just content to do that. And, people do it at different times in their lives. So they may have a few years of creativity or non-creativity and then the reverse.
