       @ls if by "quite common" you mean "once or twice a year for as much as 3 or 4 minutes at a time", then you're quite correct

       @sir A quick grep on the log of a single IRCnet channel shows 1688 netsplits for about 6 years. That's >280 per year.

       @ls I have no idea what IRCNet is. Between Freenode, RIzon, OFTC, and a handful of others, I see maybe two or three per year. That's not two or three PER network, that's two or three TOTAL.
