quick poll: is it reasonable to text someone in the middle of the night slash is it reasonable to get annoyed with someone for waking you up with a text?i'm of the belief that it's your job to set your phone to silent (or put it away) when you're sleeping. am i incorrect?

@sneak you could probably make an exception for feature phone users, those might not have a reasonable silent mode with no vibration but with calls

@sneak I tend to side with you. I’ll send a text whenever I feel like it, and turn my slave tracker on silent when I’m asleep or otherwise don’t want to be disturbed.

@sneak seems obvious. DND is practically opt-out.

@sneak Text messaging should be asynchronous, so message and respond whenever is convenient for the individuals, including in the middle of the night.

@sneak Context matters. Ie, explaining to the typical 60+ person how to use DND and white listed contacts would be tough.

@sneak If it's a technical or young-ish person definitely ok, otherwise maybe.

@sneak how are you supposed to know in what time zone the receiver currently resides? It is the receivers own fault. At the same time...I do not sent messages after my time zones' 10pm.

@sneak Simple, just don’t deal with people who keep their ringer on at night
