@tuxcrafting Fosstodon domain-blocks 15 instances: 3 spam instances, 4 copies of Gab, a handful of Nazis, and Spinster.This is because they started harassing the people here. Their first target? A cis woman who worked at a feminist charity. (And then they started telling us off for insubordination “on Spinster”, and to go back to where we came from…)Silence them from your instance, and pretend they don't exist. You won't find any funny stuff there; just sadness and disappointment.

@wizzwizz4 That's really a shame a free software node would block the largest feminist node on the network considering the lack of women in tech. They could have easily blocked the user in question instead of cutting off everyone. It's no surprise then, that there's a lack of women in tech. @alex Eight users, iirc.It is a real shame, since there was also one who was being nice (or, rather, meeting basic standards of decency, which *seemed* like being especially nice by contrast), and we had a reasonably productive conversation where I learnt something big, she learnt something small, and we all went away happy.But the culture of Spinster seems (from the outside) to be “rules 1–3 only applies to other Spinster users”. We reported it, but it went on for days.1/2

@alexThe harassment targets were really vulnerable at the time; it already caused enough distress, and blocking users didn't stop it happening. In fact, it made the verbal abuse worse.I tried to distract them with an argument, while repeatedly removing the intended targets from the @pings, and that *seemed* to work, but in retrospect I can't tell that apart from “they got bored of harassing, and would've gone away sooner if not for my arguing with them”.2/2

@wizzwizz4 @alex Oh no that’s not it at all! That’s a develop instance they’ve since shut down, their old site (gab.ai), their current one, and an old #Gab instance from the Netherlands called #GabFed, which randomly fell off the face of the earth last year.
