@Bunniesmommy If it were in GA, it may well be a felony. GA law requires "one party consent" to record a phone conversation. Same is true of New York. Meaning, at least one of the participants in the conversation has to give prior consent.

@cv555 @Bunniesmommy Interesting question under GA law, which is a "one party consent" state. Is Project Veritas a "party to the conversation" because they had the phone number? It's not like they were "wiretapping" in the classical sense..Does their source giving them the phone number constitute consent to record even if the source wasn't "a party to the conversation"? If the source was actually on the conversation, Project Veritas would appear to have no problem under GA law.

@darulharb I used to work for a company that did a lot of conference calls. They would send out the call-in information using an email list that included people that had nothing to do with it. Sometimes by mistake, sometimes too lazy to check who's on their list.I politely called attention to one that was intended for people working in our DC office which invited them to a certain room for left over cake and ice cream. I replied asking if we remote workers were going to get the same perk?

@darulharb They never replied but I never saw another email from that source.My boss laughed about me calling them out. Apparently my name had come up in the past for pointing out things. 😊 They did finally put me on a task force to rewrite all the IT procedures in a way that people could understand them without being put to sleep by pages of un-needed info. Also, test questions would only have one correct answer instead of 4 choices which 4 people in the same office could not agree on.
