       @stuxI've read Justine Sacco's story before. I hope a lot of people watch this video and see the harm in dehumanizing others on social media. Not that we let everything pass, like real racism, but that we slow down a bit so things like this don't happen. Twitter mobs are yet another reason I don't do Twitter. Stories like hers are why I'll never use social media for political posts in my real name ever again. Unfortunately, this same dehumanization 100% exists in the Fediverse, too.

       @TonyStark I was really amazed how fast this blew up at the time.. We now have the tools to make sure something like that never happens on here. We never would allow racism in the first place indeed but also online bullying is not done

       @stux Oh, I remember seeing this in real time. I remember thinking she'd made a terrible error in judgment. It wasn't the first Twitter mob I'd seen, but it was one of the worst at the time.
