Does anyone know of a good #IT skills website that offer a pay-one-time-get-lifelong-access package to their online trainings? Preferably hard skills training like (cloud) #infrastructure, #devops, #programming etc.

@Gina look at Manning/Oreilly/etc. They may have IT related books (if that helps)

@Gina does Udemy count? That got me started with web and cloud back in the days.

@Gina as a manager hiring that exact skillset I would suggest that the ability to be productive after (or while) turning to available documentation is the thing I look for most. Fortunately, the documentation is most often free for Infrastructure (Azure, AWS, and GCP all have extensive docs, and free trials for access), many cloud technologies are rebrands of FOSS projects (containers, etc), DevOps is problem solving at scale, #Python and #Rust both have great docs and community resources.

@Gina for specific topics I do tend to buy well ranked (and maintained) Udemy courses. That’s not a one time cost at the platform level, but for the subject matter these get updated as the subject evolves and that’s been helpful. I’ve heard good things about Linuxacademy as well, though I have no personal experience using it. Are there specific areas of cloud infrastructure, devops, and programming you’re looking to study?

@Gina I recommend Udemy too. Just search most popular one, and always has a discount.

@Gina @Gina Haven't bought any myself. The only lifelong courses (their books are DRM-free) I've seen are these: https://pragmaticstudio.com/courses/ O'Reilly is a staple but they waffle with DRM so I don't know their latest viewpoint: https://www.oreilly.com/online-learning/pricing.htmlSubject-wise, https://www.packtpub.com might be interesting for you. They hit the subjects you're looking for and have DRM-free books. But subscription-based. Courses seem to be by Eduonix who I don't know.

@Gina very specific, but Talk Python have some excellent courses and they have a one-off payment model to buy them all (plus any released in next 12 months). If you have a need for Python training I would highly recommend.

@Gina +1 on Udemy courses. Some are consistently updated to remain current and I can’t think of any other learning platforms that let you keep access forever. People pass AWS exams through their top rated courses so it’s good stuff for the cloud.

@Gina I'm sorry, I don't know about lifetime payments, but I can personally recommend both a Cloud Guru (formerly Linux Academy) and Pluralsight as great resources for training that don't cost the earth.

@GinaI've just re-read and saw the one-time-lifelong, afaik linuxacademy doesnt have that option. Maybe take a couple certifications to use the budget?

@dnegreira yeah I think I'm just gonna buy some general certificate tracks or look for credits that I can use later. All good suggestions btw, thanks :)

@Gina If you can’t find anything else that you like, laracasts.com is fantastic for PHP (mainly Laravel), and surrounding ecosystem (Vue JS, some server stuff and tool). Lifetime is around 350 €, and it’s usually discounted around 200 € for Black Fridays.
