You know when you drive by an abandoned or closed-down business that's been stripped of all its branding, but you can still see the outline of all the letters from the business's old sign?I just learned today the formal term for this is "label scar"

@srol also the term "Ghost sign" is widely used for a hand painted advertising sign found on old buildings - these are nowadays often preserved, there are a few in my home town (Ipswich, England)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_sign
