I can't stand it when people pretend to be victim of their on behavior, as if they aren't the ones in control. Don't "resist" temptation, just don't do it, or flee if you have to.A lot of people pretend to be battling "temptations" that they still privately enjoy falling for. Then they pretend to be devoid of agency and claim they "couldn't help themselves." In truth, this is mostly a way of having your degenerate cake and sanctimoniously throwing it away at the same time.I also talk about at least to heuristics/rules of thumb to behaviorally avoid temptation.WEBSITE: https://lukesmith.xyz 🌐❓🔎DONATE: https://lukesmith.xyz/donate 💰😎👌💯OR affiliate links to things l use:https://www.epik.com/?affid=we2ro7sa6 Get a cheap and reliable domain name with Epik.https://www.vultr.com/?ref=8384069-6G Get a VPS and host a website or server for anything else.https://brave.com/luk005 Get the Brave browser.https://lbry.tv/$/invite/@Luke View my videos on LBRY. My take: This simplifies the matter way too much. The person one is when tempted is different from the person one is when not being tempted. They don’t see the same things and they judge differently. The key is to bring all your different states of mind closer together so it becomes easier to voluntarily go from one state of mind to the other, that is to say: The key is to center oneself. This enables one to “resist temptation”. It creates the necessary paths in the mind to flee it. Still, this is hard. Easier said than done. I fail at it all the time. It’s incredibly important to live as healthy as you possibly. Meditating also greatly helps. Otherwise, good pointers!

Imagine your mind as graph whose vertices are states of minds and whose edges are possible transitions from one state of mind to another. You want to build, strengthen and shorten paths from bad states to good states and lengthen, weaken and break paths from good states to bad states. Furthermore you want to keep the graph compact and avoid compartmentalization.

apostol Paul talked about fighting against the flesh, so there is a fight to be had and it would not be easy

If I had that attitude to boredom and stimulation, I never would have clicked on one of your videos.

@z +1 on meditation as the key to regaining control over mental states. By separating your thoughts from the yourself, you can more critically evaluate which thoughts you want to act on instead of being driven by your impulses.

A polarizing filter on the camera would eliminate that glare from the water and sky.

I think this is an inconsiderate understanding of the issue, because lust or temptation is a real force applied on a person by his mind or a particular sense (such as taste, touch). Ignoring it can only help for so long and does not solve the underlying problem. The underlying problem is that a person enjoys improper or sinful activities which grant sense enjoyment because he is missing happiness inside of himself, therefore he looks for it in those activities, because his desire for happiness is greater than his moral or religious restriction. The real solution to this problem is to find a different, better source of enjoyment or happiness, because the soul needs a source of happiness and it can not be said that he should not seek happiness. I think from this fact it can be concluded that we are actually by nature happy and therefore we do not feel comfortable or natural in a situation where we are not happy. I do not know if you read these comments, but i wanted to share this thought about this take which can be considered overly simplified

I think that a person who is victim to addiction or who's will is bended by temptation should not be criticized and blamed, because it is his own responsibility and consequence ( unless we are talking about immoral acts that harm others ), but he should receive sympathy and be treated kindly, so that he may feel thankful or happy and that the underlying personal issues and unhappiness that he experiences may be soothed. One can keep going forward artificially controlling himself only for so long, but the underlying issues in his heart will only grow if he does not solve them
