@alrs I too used to receive the 'Master' salutation in the late 70s from my grandmother. I wonder what the common factor is? Late 70s? Grandmothers? Grandmothers in the late 70s?I should check with my sister to see if she still did it with her kids. But that would be with her as a great-grandmother, and no longer in the 70s, so...

is that master as the variant of mister used for boys? I knew it was a thing in the 1800 / early 1900, I didn't know it survived (to some extent) in the 1970s, cool!
