@cpsdqs it would let you have the mouse in a more ergonomic place

@deshipu I cant decide if I should get one or instead learn to use the numbers bar and give up the numpad :thaenkin:

@piggo I never understood the numpad, to be honest, but that may be because my first computer was an XT clone and I had to have the NumLock off to use the arrows.Another option is to go for a 40% like the Atreus or Planck, and have the numpad on a layer.

@deshipu numpad is really useful when entering large amount of digits, like when doing lab exercises and you have to record measurements. or for IP addresses. I also always use the slash there, for some reason

@piggo Only when you are already trained to use that key layout. Which I am not. But I do understand that this is personal. Then again, I know a lot of people who say they can't use a tenkeyless keyboard, because they have to sometimes enter Unicode characters...

@deshipu this problem is easily solved by ctrl+shift+u not working on my system :angery:

@piggo No idea what ctrl+shift+u does, but my CapsLock is a Compose key, plus the Polish keyboard layout has the most useful characters accessible with the right Alt key.

@deshipu c+s+u is what lets you enter the unicode as a number. I suppose you could use a custom xkbmap with layers to have it enter unicode, but its not very portable

@deshipu no you then type the number and confirm it by space or releasing the combo if you were holding it

@piggo Doesn't work. Maybe I would need to switch to Wayland instead of Xorg.

@deshipu if you get the underline, it works, you must be doing something wrongor it half-works somehow...

@piggo Huh, I think it worked just now, but it's actually typing those characters, then backspacing them and then typing the final character. Super hacky.

@piggo When using numpaddless keyboard, I miss doing this more than the numbers themselves.Probably not useful enough to justify bad ergonomics. If I wasn't so anti-getting-new-stuff, I would probably get numpadless keyboard and external numpad.
