@kris I have one foot in the words-of-knowledge/christianity-should-be-supernatural camp and the other foot in the Luther's-institutes-and-exegesis camp... kind of. it's hard to find a church that does solid bible study and reads ESV/greek/hebrew in long passages not just prooftexts... but which also doesn't reject anything that's remotely supernatural

@quoll I never took attention to a special denomination or religion. Always search the truth in the Bible and prayer. Always check if a preaching is ok Check or test all aspect like an application or a software. Never accept a doctrine or belief without checking it

@kris that sounds good, but can't find a church anywhere that's 100% good (and I've been to a lot of churches)... the label is more to help people put me in a box which is useful because otherwise i get put into "not one of us" or "complains about everything" (not true).

@kris in many countries, you're a Christian or not and I'm told it is straightforward, but here... there are so so few christian churches, they're all (very ceremonial) Anglican or (really conservative) presbyterian or (charismatic) AOG or unstructured with very low biblical literacy (and wilful reinterpretation to support worldly beliefs)

@quoll I remember it was a time where I created for myself criterias for churches. For example : Importance of the Bible - Practice of spiritual gift - Love - evangelism - importance of worship - Followship etc... But in the same time perfect Church does not exists and the good Church is where Gods wants me even with lot of imperfection...

@kris Yes... I am with you there. We choose a church based on where we feel we can contribute and where we feel our children will be discipled and supported as part of the community

@kris haha. Yes, we have hillsong - also CityAlight which is better, or Planetshakers and others if you like loud music. We have many churches ... but the proportion of people who attend church more than once a month is under 10%. twenty years ago at the census we were 60% nominal christian (all types), last census that was down to 52%

@quoll Yes I notice that evangelism is a weakness in many Churches. 20 years ago it was normal to preach outside but today all is limited and restricted
