       @martijnbraam ASCII art. I see that and I think -- why isn't there a limited conversion library from SVG to ASCII? Just lines and text. Useful for d̶̶r̶̶a̶̶w̶̶i̶̶n̶̶g̶̶ re-rendering flowcharts, process diagrams, and game maps. Well, not 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 useful. Mostly just cool in a retro way.And that's where I'd likely get distracted, switch to building an SVG converter, and never actually release the game. Congrats for staying on task!

       @ericphelps there are some tools to make ascii art from bitmaps, but they are quite horrible or do a 1px to 1 char mapping making huge results.making something that does svg->ascii art would be quite hard I think. You basically need to make a hinting engine.

       @martijnbraam I thought doing simple line conversions might be possible. Limited SVG support, only horizontal, vertical, and 45°(?) lines. Not all SVGs, just ones with the simple lines and limited angles that ASCII could support. No hinting. You either supply a compliant SVG that follows the rules or the converter tells you to get stuffed. Just something barely smart enough to draw your ship map, boxes, and lines.Make it easier to update maps or make all-new maps.Just a thought.
