So I was trying to install Kivy, a Python GUI framework, and was just getting errors during the install process.Turn out it was due to me using Python 3.8 instead of Python 3.7Fucking Python

@holot python is the fast food of programming languages.Use Haskell, or at the very least, D or Golang.

@holot i have made bad experiences with 3.7 -> 3.8 too.breaking incompatibility in a non major version number is absolutely bullshit.

@mk @holot indeed Python as an introduction to more productive programming languages is fine. Also fine for mathematicians or physicists that don’t want or need to learn programming. For professional developers though, Python is a source of endless frustration. I realised that it’s not that I hate programming, I simply hate Python and Java. I started using Go lately and it has been a fantastic experience.

@0x00 I'm specifically trying Python because so many jobs want it. Other than that I wouldn't bother touching it.

@mk Which is what really gets me. Don't use SemVer if you aren't going to actually stick to it.

@holot you can start with miniconda and install only what you need. The beauty of Conda is that you can create personalized python environments for an specific task or project at hand. So every environment is isolated from the others.

@holot Conda it's basically marketed as a scientific Python environment, so not many people outside the scientific community are very aware of it.

@TheMadPirate That's actually why I hadn't used it till you told me I should. Thought it was just for scientific things.

@holot python will crawl up your butt while you sleep and give you ass cancer. You'd better stop using it before too late!

@newt I’ve found that Anaconda makes it a much smoother processStock Python is kind of a pain though
