@MonKaiju @brandon @sir yes, the rest of the thread is here:https://mstdn.io/@wolf480pl/105017747286267493he rephrased it here:https://cmpwn.com/@sir/105017806077790532but he still doesn't get it:Which languages one'd feel comfortable writing a compiler for will inevitably vary from person to person. If I feel comfortable writing an OCaml compiler but not a C compiler, while he feels comfortable writing a C compiler but not an OCaml compiler, you can't infer anything about quality of the languages from that.

@MonKaiju @wolf480pl @sir Alright folks, let's just put down the pitchforksThis opinion is coming from someone who literally made a git frontend+, and a Wayland compositor. It's coming from someone who knows their way around several programming languages to the point of being *able* to write compilers etc. Don't take it personally, use whatever the fuck you want

@sir what are they then? they are def not oop languages. I personally always called C a functional language since is heavy on functions/struts etc

@brandon @MonKaiju @sir oh, I sure will use whatever I want.It just bothers me that he's so fixated on C he doesn't acknowledge any of its flaws.I think Drew has a lot of good intuitions, and he could provide very valuable insights if only he used more logic and looked critically at his own opinions.

@wolf480pl @MonKaiju @sir I agree, specifically in some situations I can recall in recent memory, but I think it's more productive to have that conversation in private rather than in an open space like thisBut that's just *my* opinion

@sir I love OOP, but I think functional programming is useful for very small scripts.Tools when needed
