Hmmmm, I'm beginning to think NixOS is a bad idea for me. Let's be honest, I'm a Linux newb. And if software is in the registry, it's great. If it's not, I'm drowning.Gonna try out KDE Neon this weekend since that's what all my Linux horoscope surveys have recommended and I'm the most familiar with Debian based distros.

@tychi I would recommend Pop. Everything Ubuntu-derived is too out of date for me to have fun with, but I have a couple of friends who have good experiences on Pop!

@tychi I used Neon before, it's pretty good. Lubuntu these days because underpowered hardware, but I miss kde.

@tychi pop OS is a ton of fun to use. Though it definitely isn’t for everybody. It was one of the only distro’s that has successfully implemented Nvidia prime with my device.

@tychi NixOS is a bit of a lifestyle and ideology I think. It's not just a distribution. It's a mindset of how you think about shipping software. Maybe a mental illness if you ask others, but I think it's the other way around.Have you read from the thesis about nix btw?

@tychi pop is fun, they have the tiling window option built in now (not super recent addition but still) which I enjoy. I’m not a huge fan of KDE though, but when I see nicely customized screenshots of it I have to admit it’s beautiful.
