mods posting reports to mock them is a red flag, and more users should be aware of this.

its an intimidation flex, and just because it isn't *you* in the report now, doesn't mean it won't be you in the future. this is a bully mentality.

@Shrigglepuss @popstar also with the limited tools that we have there are ways to discuss reports, suspension s and bans, and create an environment that's as safe as you can make it so long as you're dedicated. I think the problem is is that people don't take seriously the capacity to harm the mental health of others around them even if they're notIt's just fedi-privileged takeAnd its just my MH...

@ArtistMarciaX @Shrigglepuss its an incredibly privileged white take to say "its not real life, its just the internet" to excuse their behavior, because they can log off and life is peaceful. online spaces are often the only safe spaces that BIPoC can congregate in. treating the mental health of non-white users like their personal toy because "its just the internet" is peak bullshit

@popstar @ArtistMarciaX online or offline, it's still a communication space for actual people with real consequences

@shahaan @popstar @ArtistMarciaX so many people treat Online™ like some sort of life roleplay where none of the characters are real and I absolutely don't fuck with it

@Shrigglepuss Agreed, I don’t get it. I’ve always treated my online presence like an extension of my “real” self. Never say/do anything I wouldn’t to someone irl. I think a lot of cowardly people use the distance and anonymity of online spaces to spit their bigotry and hate at people and they find it liberating because they would never muster up the “courage” to do it face to face. It’s sad and pathetic.@popstar @ArtistMarciaX

@popstar @ArtistMarciaX @Shrigglepuss It’s funny because marginalized people consider the Internet a safe space because they can log off and walk away from it. We all can and should turn off the computer and walk away sometimes, but that doesn’t mean it’s not bullying to force you to do so. Anyone who takes away your power so they can hurt you is a bully, even if they can’t outright lynch you over a phone line. The flawless galaxy brain logic of these abusive admins is that “less bullying” is equivalent to “no bullying” therefore you can’t say they’re bullying, and that’s why they tell you to just turn off the computer and walk away. A good response is “You first, asshole.”
