@rgggn Thanks for administrating conf.tube. I'd like to be able to log in and comment on videos in the ActivityPub channel, but can't seem to do it. Is this allowed?

@Argus Hi Derek, by choice accounts on conf.tube are only for content uploaders. This being said, you can actually comment and interact with the videos using your Mastodon account. Just paste the video's URL in the Mastodon search bar and you're done. Any issues, let me know!

@rgggn Thanks for this! But I seem to be running into trouble. I've posting the URL in my browser, and ended up getting a "403: This action is not allowed" error...

@Argus This is really strange. I am also getting this error for some videos (for example https://conf.tube/videos/watch/d8c8ed69-79f0-4987-bafe-84c01f38f966, nice talk by the way), but not from all Mastodon instances.@support any ideas what's going on here?

@rgggn @Argus That's unusual. I've checked logs, and am seeing no 403 coming from mastodon.technology or errors in general that may relate to this. I'm sadly unable to replicate on my mastodon instance. @ashfurrow would you be able to check the mastodon logs to see if there are errors on your side?

@rgggn I created an account on floss.social to debug this and I get the error when searching but when posting it shows up and works correctly. Can't be sure what is causing this search issue, will look into it and let you know if I find something. @Argus @support @ashfurrow

@mastohost @rgggn @Argus @support hi, sorry for the delay everyone. work today was brutal and I just got off it – I can take a look through our logs later tonight for any 403’s (if I’m understanding the current request?) and let you know. Seems like it’s also occurring when searching for the URL on m.t? That should help narrow down the log search, if I can reproduce the 403 myself. /cc @bclindner

@rgggn So, I found the problem. The first time that post was federated (mentioned, posted, etc) with floss.social (and probably m.t.) the video on Peertube was not set to public and the database stored the visibility as not public and it hasn't updated it.Any post that is not public cannot be displayed in search and you get the 403 'This action is not allowed' returned. @Argus @support @ashfurrow
