TL;DR: do not use torrents. Anyone can see, what you are downloading or seeding.Don't believe me?Check this: https://iknowwhatyoudownload.com/#privacy #torrent #surveillance

@peexea don't use torrents on public trackers if you can avoid it... Do use torrents on private trackers, sharing is love ❤️

@peexeaUse public VPN and it will be hard to track what your downloads are if there are 1000 more people torrenting from the same IP address

@Matter To be secure, we need to use not peer2peer but friend2friend sharing systems, as they do not leak any information outside the "first hop".

@Matter @peexea Whatever crawler they are using to track people's downloads, couldn't they still do that, granted they have access to the private tracker?

@wonderingdane @peexea First, they need to have access to the private tracker. Then, they need to either do aggressive connections to the tracker (and get banned immediately), or only have a very partial view of the files being downloaded, mostly only seeing a small part of the IP addresses that ask for pieces that they have downloaded. What's better? A centralized server knowing everything, or a limited group of people knowing some parts of what your IP downloads?

@Matter @wonderingdane well, the herd security model is surely secure in average, but sounds dangerous and unpredictable for a specific user.F2F model with turtle rooting gives essentially the same discoverability and similar maximum download rates. But doesn't leak any information.)
