@InvaderXan If I put up some metal rods in a very particular way, and then the same a few feet away, and apply a small, rapidly oscillating voltage - if you want, even fluctuating according to a signal - to one of those apparati, I can sympathetically induce a matching (but vastly weaker) signal in the other! And from that, the original signal too. How bizarre is that?It gets better! I can have those things *miles* apart - even *in orbit!*Even now, I still think that's pretty damned amazing. ^_^

@InvaderXan Sewing machines seem like magic to me. I know its all mechanical engineering but there are so many different kinds of motion coming from one single not quite unidirectional motor, its mind boggling. The proper service manuals for them are incredible.

@InvaderXan idk, magic and science are the same exact thing to me.neither one denotes non-existence of the other.theyre lovers who wanna show us the best things about the coding within life.

@InvaderXan still after 20 years working in tech: computers, and especially software. it's the most arcane type of magic. I think it is only appropriate that a colleague of mine was a priest in his former job.

@everysplendidsun Magic feels like science that we can't explain yet. Beaches with tides full of bioluminescent plankton feel no less magical, even when you understand that the water is full of dinoflagellates producing luciferin.

@InvaderXan thank u for sharing what u think with me. I agree, it feels no less magical. To me, what you said about the plankton is like framing the same thing in different words, but at the end of it, its still the very same thing. and i like that about life!

@InvaderXan Evolution honestly.I just dont get how one random mutation in one being can cascade into possibly changing a species?I can get the same mutation in several beings doing that, but then I cant get the same random mutation happening in several being.
