I'm annoyed that, just like the desktop, so many pinephone distros continue to choose gnome based interfaces (phosh). I'm annoyed that it is kind of the default choice and getting the most attention and development (it seems). This is annoying to me because I can't stand gnome or its applications usually. I think they're ugly and too dumbed down in a lot of cases. Ok, rant over.

@kelbot I'd be less annoyed if the gnome apps being held up as the functional standard actually worked.

@kelbot gtk3 in general seems like a bit of a trainwreck. Almost bad enough to make qt apps attractive again despite being so graphically glitchy. (I have been told _many_ times it is just me, but on dozens of machines I've never seen a qt app run on linux without pixel level distortion artifacts, which sucks because they are soooo preeeeetty.)

@kelbot I like phosh itself, it feels pretty minimal and was the fastest compared to when I tried UBPorts and Plasma Mobile, but that was a long time ago.I generally like the look and feel of GTK, but I do think there are some weird UI's that seem to be encouraged sometimes. I don't think I have an opinion on apps using it in general though, it seems to vary quite a bit

@kelbot Personally, I'm comfortable putting up with phosh 'cause even just comparing mobian and pmOS I saw the difference that making a choice on which interface they were going to build for (first) made in how clean the implementation is. ...that said, I've disliked almost every gnome app I've played with on the device, and have overwhelmingly chosen command line tools instead.

@Avalon I know there must be plenty of people that like gnome and apparently phosh and gnome apps. I'm purposely avoiding saying its bad :) because that's largely subjective. Its just that I personally don't like it. None of the interfaces are going to make everyone happy. I'm just complaining that the one I like the least has become the most popular at the moment, haha.

@kelbot I agree with you and want to add that this is the result of developers who have the arrogance of Apple in thinking they know what their users want better than their users do but don't have any successes to back that arrogance up.Also the fact that Red Hat pretty much runs the show when it come to GNOME (and freedesktop.org in general) is enough to give me pause.
