       @aphyr yes, but now we need a good 20+ levels of abstraction to even make that binary run. Things like go and rust make this better (you get a single file out) but so few people care. The Docker stuff I do at work for our Java apps make me cry... But it's still better than running Java apps bare on the OS with 14 different jre/jdk environments installed

       @aphyr TBH I think we did it to ourselves by never coming up with an approach for a simple, reproducible, deployable artifact (and no, not JAR). So we got Docker instead.
