Can someone explain to me what Keybase is good for?I mean... what does it *do* that can't be done with plain gpg and public keyservers?Honest question. I'm trying to decide whether I need Keybase or I can keep on using plain gpg.#pgp #gpg #keybase

@codewiz I had an account which I deleted after some years when I asked me the same question.Also there was some fallout of weird things happening. Haven't even noticed it missing so it probably isn't needed.

@codewiz It has a chat platform and a proof system for proving you own $account on $service. The latter can also be achieved with keyoxide. The former, ehh... you could use something else.

@codewiz I see no purpose either. If someone trusts that I am the one running my website, when I can as well publish the gpg pubkey there.I suspect some people have a "good feeling" from seeing their single devices registered at keybase.

@globalc We do have a personal website, while most people nowadays only have public profiles hosted by 3rd parties.Anyway, I decided I don't need Keybase after all.
