Can i just somehow set the input frequency threshold with pulseaudio or something to try and get ride of this stupid static that comes in as soon as i connect a mic to my PC.Tried the front and back input. Still same. I've tried some things found on the web(from Arch wiki for example) and still same static/noise even when mic is muted on the headset. If i have the mic plugged in but muted with the switch on the headset then i runarecord -f cd -d 10 test-mic.wavi get 10 seconds of static...i would expect just silence.https://cloud.gcfam.net:8099/index.php/s/sy3snrdsY6s85F3Is this normal? What is causing this? How do i correct it?

Could it be shielding on the cords? Like it's getting interference from like WiFi and stuff in my house...? How could I test that?

@mgrondin I've always had this with 3.5mm jack mics on Linux.USB mics are fine.

@uoou so do you think something like this with a 3.5 to usb adapter would work?https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07W22F9G3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IvknFbD2DPPHFWhat do/have you used that worked well?

@mgrondin Oh and pretty much any USB mic I/friends have used has worked fine. Better mics will be better quality of course but that his you always get with 3.5mm isn't there. Most of my friends use Blue Snowballs or Yetis and they're great. I have a cheap Samson mic and that works fine.

So after all that and with @uoou 's comment about using a USB mic/headset i returned the original one linked above and got this one instead. Just wish it was not white...https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07GJHZ2FS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@mgrondin It may have to do with the different wiring for input jacks between PCs, laptops and phones. Just because the plug fits, does not mean a signal comes through. https://www.cablechick.com.au/blog/understanding-trrs-and-audio-jacks/

@freelikegnu Thanks i'll have to read all that later...At quick glance the mic did have a TRRS jack but came with a Splitter(that i just realized i did not put back in the box i sent back...) to split it into 2 TRS jacks one for mic and one for headphones...PC only has split mic/headphone jacks. Laptop had a TRRS jack. Same results.
