@mikeYou can tweak the UI, especially the toolbar even with LibreOffice 6.x. There is a ribbon toolbar, for instance.

@ashwinvis Yes, and the "Tabbed" UI is probably my favorite when it comes to options in LibreOffice. I NEED to have the side bar open all the time, otherwise the white space is just overwhelming to me, but it's still the best choice in my opinion. That's not to say I think it's "good", because I still think all of the UI choices need some serious TLC, but it's the least bad option for me personally.

@mike At least they don't force a UI and a subscription plan down users' throat. 😄

@ashwinvis Oh yea, for sure. I'm still a fan of LibreOffice, and like I said, I've been using it for as long as it's existed. It will continue to be my go-to office product on Linux and on Windows (when I have to).

@mike couldn't agree more. I honestly feel for open source adoption, we need more UI/UX designers on these project. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but something I find a lot with FOSS is that it's pretty ugly and ofttimes unwieldy. Like a lot of people here that doesn't bother me, but it's a major barrier to adoption for a lot of others.

@mike Interesting perspective Mike. I actually see the latest changes as quite significant but I probably value small, incremental, changes over big ones.I quite like the Karasa Jaga theme with its crispness and colour.Regarding the UX, I started my professional use of GNU/Linux with ApplixWare which had a Motif UI so I'm not too bothered with that aspect.I recall StarOffice too and the frequent crashes. How could you forget that? 😉

@mikeI am just so used to using Google Docs or Zoho or Only office that I rarely fire up Libre Office anymore.

@neildarlow Yea, I actually used CDE on Digital Unix boxes back in college before I knew Linux existed. UI is still a very important thing for me. It's one of my peeves with many open source applications that they don't spend more time on the UI. Microsoft and Apple dedicate extensive resources to it and it shows in their presentation.
