       @luna @kenreybryan what does "the two add to 0" mean here? Isn't the whole point of checksums that you can't predict them, or am I misunderstanding something?

       @amandag @luna @kenreybryan checksums aren't meant to be unpredictable. they just verify to a reasonable degree that some data wasn't corrupted (over an ethernet cable for example)
