@brandon Well, I can tell you one thing that doesn't help - alcohol. It makes me feel better when it's in my system, but then when you're sober the next morning, anxiety is much worse. I've had hardly any anxiety since I quit drinking.

@brandonNot saying this works for everyone, but usualy listening to music or watching a documentery or a seris helps for me at least

@brandon I'm diagnosed as Bipolar Type 2 - some 8 years ago, I specifically have a social anxiety disorder.From my little experience, there is nothing that comes closer to being compassionate and show that love to your partner and let your partner know that you are there to help. It always makes them feel comfortable which is very important. The first step is to ease the pain that comes out of anxiety. A person could rely on medications, that might help for some amount. 1/2

@brandon I don't have intense anxiety but cold showers helps me to calm down, have a better focus, have better (amazing) nights and has other health benefit. I've read that it helped people with anxiety too. WIm Hof talks a lot about it if you want to look it up. He's kinda eccentric and weird tho :). Good luck !

@brandon Ultimately one who has this problem gotta realize and accept which is the hardest part.And for that, you would have to take that step I've mentioned in the 2nd para. @poet they definitely realize that they have SAD, and definitely wants my help, which I try. But I run out of ideas quickly because I can't really observe how I deal with any of my own anxiety.Which is why I'm reaching out here, and thus far the suggestions have been really helpful and have piqued my brain in the right way to help think of more ideas.I want to refrain from medication, as much as possible before trying everything.Especially since they're still able 2 be productive

@kintaro ouu! The cold shower method might be useful. Earlier today my partner and I were talking about finding ways to "shake" them out of the anxiety intensive state and I think that might be one of the various ways that may work

@brandon @hejo In many places CBD is available mail order or over the counter, as it has no controlled substances in it. In the US, chain pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens carry it.

@brandon I can legally order it here in Europe. Shouldn't be a problem. I smoke it once per day and it works wonder. I would appreciate your feedback since I haven't tested oil.

@brandon For me anxiety is a place in my mind, and the key is leaving it. Mindfulness and meditative techniques for switching mental context really does wonders for me. The 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 grounding technique is really great, and other mindfulness techniques can be learned from there.Sit in a novel place like in a unique nook or cranny, and watch the lights and listen to your breathing. Those are all that matter. All other thoughts can be set aside right now.

@brandon It's good that you are reaching out for help!And I can understand that medications doesn't necessarily need to be working for everyone as it does for me for the last 6 years.But take note: You might have to consult a professional therapist or a psychologist sometime, as you are mentioning your partner's anxiety is intense.Wish you the best!
